In the most recent update for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered on the PlayStation, a significant glitch concerning unlockable items has been addressed. This issue surfaced following the rollout of an earlier patch. When The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered was finally released for PC on April 3, 2025, the date brought along a series of updates, including the much-anticipated Patch 2.0.0.
The PC version of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered was met with critical acclaim and, a year after its debut on PS5, the game’s remaster received notable enhancements, such as new characters, maps, and trophies, as well as a unique themed cosmetic item. These features were also included in the PC release. Despite these enhancements, Patch 2.0.0 inadvertently introduced a bug that cleared player unlockables, an issue now rectified in the latest version of the game.
Naughty Dog’s development team took action with Patch 2.0.1 to restore these unlockables, including skill points and an extra weapon holster. However, players need to load save files from before April 3 to recover these items. If a save created after this date overwrote an earlier one, those items might still be inaccessible. This measure was part of the developer’s advice when the bug was first recognized, cautioning players against overwriting their original saves. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to address the disappearance of unlocked skins in No Return mode.
As for the PC port, Naughty Dog seems to have learned from the rocky start of The Last of Us Part 1’s PC release in 2023. The latest version saw a much smoother launch, maintaining an impressive “Very Positive” rating from over 4,900 users on Steam.
Interestingly enough, the game’s release coincides perfectly with the forthcoming season of The Last of Us TV series, set to air on April 13. This timing could potentially increase interest in the game, echoing the consumer behavior seen with other video game adaptation releases.
