I recently had the chance to check out the latest Overture trailer and then dived into some fan-made videos that dissected every single frame. I’m curious about what you hope people notice in the trailer. Is there anything in particular you’d want fans to focus on?
Ji-won Choi: Those detailed breakdowns by fans? I’ve seen them too, and let me tell you, it’s humbling to see the love and attention from our global audience. It really hit me how passionate our community is. The main thing we aimed to communicate with this trailer is straightforward: our fans are heard. We’ve taken in a ton of feedback over time—feedback that really matters—and this trailer is our way of showing we’ve listened. That’s the message we hoped to send.
Xbox Wire: I find that really intriguing. When you first created “Lies of P,” there probably weren’t a lot of external expectations. It looked impressive, but no one really knew what to anticipate. Now that people recognize how good “Lies of P” is, they’re eagerly awaiting “Overture.” How do you balance fan feedback with your vision?
Ji-won Choi: That’s a great question. We see this entire journey as a joint effort between us, the developers, and the fans. We pay close attention to feedback, analyzing what resonates and identifying areas for improvement. When feedback comes in, some suggestions are easy to adopt, while others spark debate. But we never dismiss them outright. Instead, we discuss these points with our development team, jot them down, and run tests. This helps us decide what works and what doesn’t. We take feedback seriously and ensure it drives the validation process.
Xbox Wire: As I watched the trailer, it struck me that the original game often felt like a solitary experience. Sure, you could return to Hotel Krat and interact with others, but out in the world, it was pretty much just you. Yet, in this trailer, P seems far from alone—like when P blows the horn and, maybe it’s Aladoro, crashes through the window, fighting alongside P. Does Overture aim to be less solitary?
Ji-won Choi: It’s tough to predict feelings like loneliness or other emotions, but our focus was on evolving the intriguing characters we introduced. In the base game, you met or heard about various characters through hints. With the expansion, we’re delving deeper into these personalities. We want players to have a fuller, richer experience with the characters that captivated them from the start.
