It looks like we’re in for a treat with a film adaptation of the freshly launched game, Split Fiction, now officially in the works.
Variety has the scoop on this one, revealing that Story Kitchen is taking the reins on assembling the cast, choosing the writers, and finding a director. This is the same team that previously handled the adaptation of Hazelight’s last hit, It Takes Two, a project they’ve teamed up with Amazon on. They’re also busy with adaptations of Toejam and Earl, Slim Rancher, and Vampire Survivors.
It seems “multiple top Hollywood studios” are enthusiastically lining up to get involved with this latest venture.
Split Fiction made its debut earlier in March and didn’t waste any time racking up impressive sales; a staggering one million copies were sold in just the first two days and it surged to two million within the first week.
An ecstatic Hazelight couldn’t contain their excitement, posting on Bluesky after the news of their success, “Holy crap, we’re blown away! Simply amazing. Thank you to all of our new and old fans – we love how excited you are for our game.”
Meanwhile, It Takes Two’s film adaptation has some heavy hitters attached, starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, with the scripting talents of Pat Casey and Josh Miller, known for their work on Sonic the Hedgehog.
