Hideaki Nishino, the head of PlayStation, shared some exciting news about the PS Portal’s performance in the market. He described its sales as a “huge success” for Sony, hinting at more developments down the pipeline. In a conversation with the BBC, Nishino suggested that the addition of cloud streaming directly on the PS Portal is just the beginning of what’s to come.
### PS Portal’s Success Sparks Interest in Future Handheld Developments
In light of recent buzz, the BBC probed Nishino and co-CEO Hermen Hulst about the possibility of a new PlayStation handheld console. Although they were tight-lipped on specifics, Nishino mentioned that the evolving ways people experience gaming inspired the creation and triumph of the PS Portal.
Nishino explained, “We’ve recently rolled out a beta program to enable direct Cloud streaming to the handheld. We’re constantly on the lookout for innovative ways our players can engage with games.”
With Sony taking a break from the portable gaming scene for a while, reports suggest they’re back in the game, experimenting with a new handheld device. It’s rumored that prototypes might already be circulating. The PS Portal’s favorable market response has seemingly boosted these efforts. Given Microsoft’s plans for an Xbox handheld, Sony likely wants to ensure they stay competitive as we approach the PS6 era.
