Nintendo’s latest announcement reveals that over 146.04 million Nintendo Switch consoles have been sold globally.
During the six months leading up to September 30, 2024, the company managed to sell 4.72 million units. This figure shows a 31 percent decrease compared to the same period last year, but Nintendo emphasized that the sales remain strong, especially when compared to how other Nintendo platforms performed in their eighth year.
In an impressive milestone, Nintendo has crossed the 1.3 billion mark for games sold on the Switch, establishing a new record for the company. They proudly pointed out that more game software has been enjoyed on the Nintendo Switch than on any other piece of Nintendo hardware.
Curious about which games are still stealing the spotlight? Leading the pack is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with a whopping 64.27 million copies sold. Following closely is Animal Crossing: New Horizons, reaching 46.45 million in sales, while Super Smash Bros. Ultimate boasts 35.14 million copies. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has charmed 32.29 million gamers, and Super Mario Odyssey has captured 28.50 million. Meanwhile, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield have totaled 26.44 million copies.
Adding to the Switch’s top sellers list, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet have sold 25.69 million copies. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom continues its journey with 21.04 million sold, Super Mario Party has delivered fun to 20.98 million players, and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe rounds out the list with 17.77 million in sales.
