The past few weeks have been particularly challenging for Strategist players in Marvel Rivals. Healing, an already difficult task, becomes even tougher when you’re unexpectedly attacked by a Spider-Man player, hurling you back to spawn. In a meta dominated by swift and powerful heroes, Strategist players find themselves working overtime just to keep their heads above water. Fortunately, the nightmare might soon come to an end with the mid-season patch.
Last Friday, in a Dev Talk post, NetEase acknowledged the ongoing support crisis that’s been troubling players since the beginning of season 2. Heroes like Iron Fist, who are incredibly agile, have taken center stage this season. As a result, Strategists are under immense pressure, needing to closely monitor their teammates’ health, meticulously manage key abilities, and continually maintain strategic positioning, according to NetEase.
To ease the burden on support players, NetEase announced plans to increase their damage output. This change aims to elevate their threat levels, which could diversify team compositions. Additionally, heroes like Groot and Captain America will become less challenging to defeat, and the infamous Spider-Man uppercut will be more difficult to land.
The patch is slated for release in early May, coinciding with the introduction of Ultron as a new addition to the roster. Based on official footage, Ultron is expected to be a Strategist.
As NetEase continues to add new heroes, patches like these are crucial for maintaining balance in the game. They aim to make small adjustments to avoid making significant disruptions. By empowering support players without completely undermining the heroes designed to challenge them, this approach strikes a promising balance for all players involved.
