After taking a break for over a year due to health concerns, Kenny Omega, the celebrated professional wrestler, made his grand comeback at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5. This exciting return was highlighted by a brand new entrance theme, crafted by two industry legends of the gaming world.
Anticipation was heightened when Omega took to social media platform X (the platform formerly known as Twitter) to share, “Before my return tomorrow, I want to announce that I’m debuting a new entrance at the Tokyo Dome. A new song created by the amazing Final Fantasy 14 & 16 composer Masayoshi Soken, with vocals by Jason Miller and a special voice by the legendary Nobuo Uematsu. I hope you enjoy.”
The thrill of the event was captured by New Japan Pro Wrestling, one of the key co-producers of Wrestle Dynasty. They posted an electrifying clip of Omega’s entrance from the live, pay-per-view broadcast on X.
Though the roar of the crowd almost drowned it out, the music that accompanied Omega was pure Soken magic. With orchestral melodies that rose and fell behind powerful vocals, it was the kind of composition that would fit seamlessly into an intense raid in Final Fantasy 14 or a critical narrative moment in Final Fantasy 16. While I’m not entirely certain it was Nobuo Uematsu’s voice, I’d like to believe he was there, adding his legendary flair as Omega made his triumphant walk to the ring.
And, in case you’re wondering about the match’s outcome: spoiler alert—Omega clinched victory. It’s hard to lose when you’ve got the majesty of Final Fantasy music backing you up.
