The renowned gaming studio behind the Hitman series, IO Interactive, has officially severed ties with mixed martial arts sensation, Conor McGregor.
This announcement came swiftly via their Twitter account, following a courtroom victory for a woman who had accused McGregor of rape. In the aftermath of the civil case ruling, IO Interactive felt compelled to take action, stating they could not overlook the broader implications of this legal decision.
Previously, McGregor made an appearance in the downloadable content for Hitman, known as The Disruptor DLC. However, with the recent turn of events, IO Interactive has firmly decided to cut all associations with him. “Given the latest court outcome concerning Conor McGregor, we have chosen to immediately terminate our partnership with him,” the studio conveyed on Twitter. “We take such matters with utmost seriousness and acknowledge their significant effects.”
Furthermore, IO Interactive is taking steps to erase any content linked to McGregor from their digital platforms. This process of removal is already underway, underscoring their commitment to distancing the brand from the athlete.
