Acer has rolled out six fresh models under the Radeon RX 9070 series, introducing both base and OC versions that boast impressive boost clocks of up to 3.1 GHz.
Just recently, Acer revealed its latest lineup, featuring the BiFrost and Nitro editions of the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070. It’s interesting to see Acer ramping up its efforts in the AMD graphics card arena, as they are less active compared to some of AMD’s core partners. This new lineup, however, brings us six enticing models, with each GPU getting three versions.
Within this new release, you’ll find the Nitro editions for both the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070, alongside a BiFrost edition for each. When it comes to aesthetics and cooling efficiency, the BiFrost editions take the crown with their stylish designs, while the Nitro series targets a broader audience with solid specs and competitive pricing.
Diving into the details of the BiFrost lineup, the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB stands out with its advanced triple-fan cooling system. The design features a sleek shroud complemented by silverfish accents around the central fan. This cooling marvel integrates FrostBlade 4.0 ringed fans, utilizing a counter-spin technique to optimize heat dissipation. Measuring around 295 mm, it’s a 2.5-slot thick powerhouse. Factory-overclocked to hit up to 3.1 GHz, it’s geared for gamers who demand top-tier performance.
In contrast, the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB adopts a similar look but instead uses two 8-pin power connectors, unlike the XT version, which uses three. What’s intriguing is both models have a power rating of 340W, despite the RX 9070 naturally requiring less. Technically, the two 8-pin connectors plus a PCI-E x16 slot suffice for providing the 340W, but the overclocking potential isn’t as vast as on the BiFrost RX 9070 XT OC.
Switching gears to the Acer Nitro series, you’ll find both overclocked and non-overclocked models for each card in the RX 9070 lineup. The Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC is another triple-fan beast, matching the BiFrost’s 3.1 GHz boost clock and similar 2.5-slot size, with length parallel to its counterpart. It also draws power from three 8-pin connectors, featuring a 340W thermal design power (TDP). Meanwhile, the non-OC Nitro RX 9070 XT carries a lower 304W TDP but retains all three power connectors, clocking in at 2970 MHz boost and handling up to 2.4 GHz in game mode.
Then, we have the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC and RX 9070 16 GB editions. The clocks top out at 2.7 GHz and 2.52 GHz, respectively. The OC edition draws 245W, while the non-OC runs at 220W, maintaining the same design palette.
Although Acer hasn’t disclosed the prices for the entire line, they set the price tag of $829.99 for the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB. Chances are, the BiFrost edition will burn an even deeper hole in your pocket. While availability details remain sparse, the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC is slated for an April release in the US.
