Lately, the modding scene for Helldivers 2 has been buzzing with some exciting innovations, especially for those who have a soft spot for classics like Crazy Taxi or Halo 3: ODST. The latest addition to this creative outpouring is reportedly the first-ever full-blown “Warbond” mod, and I must say, it’s pretty impressive.
Let’s clear up a small detail before diving deeper. Technically speaking, this mod should be considered “Warbond-like,” as it doesn’t boast all the bells and whistles that come with Arrowhead’s official Warbonds. However, if you’re just looking for a fresh armor experience, this mod absolutely delivers.
The mastermind behind this creation, modder Jayypino, has aptly named it ‘Dogmatic Reach’—and the reasoning will become clear soon. In essence, this mod introduces several new armor sets and helmets, blending elements from Helldivers 2 with gear from Halo 3: ODST. So, you get to sport a look that’s a bit more Spartan, but without the stark contrast of donning a full-on Master Chief ensemble. Jayypino describes it as “something different, but familiar,” featuring custom textures that blend seamlessly with the vanilla armors.
These new armor sets, which replace existing ones in the game, come with customizable paint jobs. You can expect fierce-looking helmet teeth and a cool blue color scheme matching another custom Warbond-style mod also by Jayypino, known as The Grave Situation Team’s ‘SEAF Specialists.’
To try out the mod, you’ll need to download the latest version of Teutinsa’s ‘HD2 Mod Manager.’ Once you have that sorted, you can explore the three new armor sets: Chimera, Hydra, and Cyclops.
This isn’t the only buzzworthy activity in the Helldivers 2 community of late. For instance, a dataminer recently discovered a mysterious Illuminate Aurora Borealis, purely by experimentation with obelisks. Adding to the intrigue, an aspiring artist has put together a 14-page concept of what an indoor dungeon mission might look like.
