Since the developer Arrowhead launched the initial segment of Helldivers 2’s crossover with Killzone, players have been up in arms over the steep prices associated with the new content. In response to this outcry, the studio has decided to offer the second part of the collaboration for free to all players.
Yesterday, we highlighted the community’s main gripe: the high super credit costs for the new assault rifle and armor set, which weren’t bundled as a warbond package. This has been a sore point for many in the Helldivers community.
After Arrowhead’s CEO, Shams Jorjani, and Johan Pilestedt took to social media to explain the rationale behind the pricing, the studio opted to mend fences by providing the upcoming gear, initially scheduled for a December 23 release, as a complimentary festive gift.
In a Steam post, Arrowhead shared, “As our inaugural crossover content, we’ve been closely monitoring the community’s feedback, and it’s clear that crossover gear is something many of you cherish. However, we understand the dissatisfaction with the pricing and we are taking a second look at this.”
Concern about the limited availability of items and their departure from typical Warbond-themed releases has also been noted. To address these issues, Arrowhead is extending the current availability of items in the Superstore from five to ten days, easing the pressure on players worried about missing out while they gather Super Credits.
Moreover, Arrowhead is exploring ways to permanently bring these items back in the future. They mentioned that the W.A.S.P. stratagem would soon be available for all players to unlock via a major order.
This gesture reflects the spirit of the season, though Arrowhead knows that finding a balance in pricing for both themselves and the players is a work in progress. They hope this act of goodwill will soothe some of the frustration players might have felt from the pricey Killzone crossover.
