Eager to dive into new content in Pokémon TCG Pocket? Well, you’re in luck! A fresh expansion is set to drop next week, bringing with it an exciting new booster pack that gives you a shot at snagging a Mew.
According to a recent tweet from the game’s official channel, this upcoming expansion, named Mythical Island, is hitting shelves on Tuesday, December 17th. “I went above and beyond to bring you this scoop. (In reality, I politely asked and maybe shed a tear or two),” the person behind the TCG Pocket social media account humorously shared.
In the trailer below, you’ll catch a glimpse of a slew of new cards, including ones featuring Mew, Aerodactyl, and Celebi, showcased in the new Mythical Island booster pack. It’s the perfect addition for those of you who’ve already stacked up countless Doduos (Doduo, Doduos, Dodui—who can say what the plural is?).
“The Mythical Island expansion offers an impressive array of over 80 cards. You’ll find five thrilling new Pokémon ex cards, five innovative Trainer cards, and beautifully designed cards that invite you into the enchanting realm of Pokémon,” states the trailer’s captivating description.
There’s more than just cards on offer. New binder and display board covers featuring the serene vistas of Mythical Island are also available. They’re a delightful way to send your Pokémon on a virtual vacation or let them imagine one, staying true to the quirky Pokémon style of whimsical zoology—which, truth be told, leans towards the morally complex if you ponder it for too long.
Do the Pokémon relish their roles as seemingly immortal battle companions in card duels? Who’s to say? However, The Pokémon Company did announce that TCG Pocket has surpassed 60 million downloads, so any criticism may not hold much ground when that many people are engaged, myself included. Being meta-critical might just end up with me debating myself, and honestly, who has the time?
