Stalker 2 has been navigating some technical hiccups, but there’s good news on the horizon. GSC Game World, the developer behind the game, has revealed that a patch is in the works to address several of these issues.
Following Stalker 2’s launch earlier this week, players have encountered a few rocky patches. Despite these challenges, our reviewer Connor found plenty to appreciate in the game. The reception from players has been somewhat mixed, yet it’s performing impressively on Steam. Meanwhile, the modding community has already jumped in to tackle the stuttering problems. Thankfully, official fixes aren’t far behind. GSC Game World announced on the game’s Steam page that a post-launch patch is scheduled to roll out next week.
In a message to players, the game’s developers expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support. “It feels surreal to finally have the game out,” they shared. “We’re closely following your feedback. To our over one million players in the Zone, thank you for your support—it means the world to us. Just as you’ve got tasks in the Zone, we’ve got our own work to do.” Although the announcement didn’t dive into every specific bug, it did highlight what to expect in the coming update.
For starters, the patch will address some crash-related issues, such as those involving memory allocation. Bugs that hinder quest progression will also be resolved, including problems like NPCs getting stuck in objects or erroneous quest markers. Additionally, the game will see updates to gameplay balance and adjustments to NPC behavior, weapon pricing, as well as improvements to cutscenes and visuals. There are more specifics, of course—you can explore those on your own.
The update also mentioned a couple of lingering issues that will be tackled in future patches. One is related to the dead zones on analogue sticks, which has been a point of frustration. Another is the game’s A-Life system, a topic of discussion among players. Currently, there’s no timeline for when these specific fixes will be implemented, so patience will be key.
