In an exciting announcement, the team behind Cards & Tankards, a free-to-play social VR card game, revealed that a new expansion is set to drop later this month.
Crafted by the creative minds at Divergent Realities, Cards & Tankards brings card game enthusiasts a unique experience, spanning both flatscreen platforms and VR headsets. The latest addition, dubbed the ‘Ashes of Ur-Enku’ expansion, promises to freshen things up with 50 new cards. Players can also look forward to dazzling diamond animated variants, a slew of new cosmetics, a revamped season pass, as well as updated balancing tweaks and rank resets.
This time around, the storyline whisks players away to the wild landscapes of Ur-Enku. The narrative centers on the Plundering Guild, who dare to use a forbidden fire-hunting technique. Armed with this risky method, they uncover ancient Dwarven archives long hidden beneath layers of untamed growth. These archives shed light on experimental endeavors with Aether, a potent primordial force. However, the mission takes a grim turn, leaving only one explorer standing when the dust settles, as the studio elaborates.
Cards & Tankards first hit the scene nearly two years ago, and since then, it’s been consistently enriched with a slew of post-launch updates. The December release of Version 2.4 brought a series of comprehensive fixes, while Version 2.3 provided a major rebalance affecting over half of the game’s cards. Last March saw the arrival of ‘The Crusade of Sun & Stone’ expansion, and toward the end of 2023, the developers launched a competitive ‘Ranked Mode.’
