Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is about to make its debut in virtual reality, tailored exclusively for the Quest 3 and Quest 3S, starting next week.
This adaptation, crafted by Playside Studios in collaboration with Meta, will hit the Quest platform on April 10th. It promises both solo adventures and engaging online multiplayer experiences with fellow Quest 3 users.
As with the PC and console iterations of the game, the VR version challenges you to steer your nation through the annals of time. You’ll select a leader, decide whether to forge alliances, or clash head-on with other global powers.
Never dabbled in Civilization before? No worries! In Civilization VII – VR, you decide on a starting age, each packed with its own hurdles and perks. Begin in the Antiquity Age to lay your empire’s groundwork, venture through the Exploration Age to unearth unknown territories, or dive into the Modern Age packed with tech and industrial advancements.
What’s truly unique about this VR experience, besides the obvious immersion, is the interactive ‘War Table.’ Here, you control your civilization as if it were a board game, with the ability to zoom, pan, and tilt the table for the best strategic view.
Get ready to navigate the challenges of rival civilizations, facing off with both AI and human competitors. Will you opt for diplomacy to maintain peace, or brace yourself for conflict?
Adding to the experience, the game offers both virtual and mixed reality modes. The latter features passthrough, allowing you to maintain awareness of your real-world setting while playing.
Excited to jump in? You can preorder Sid Meier’s Civilization VII – VR now on the Horizon Store for Quest 3 and Quest 3S, priced at $60.
