Nintendo has stated that launching exclusive games will play a vital role when the Nintendo Switch 2 makes its debut.
This assertion came in response to a query from a shareholder curious about whether new games for the current Nintendo Switch would still be released once its successor hit the market.
Nintendo’s president, Shuntaro Furukawa, explained, “We’ve already announced titles like Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond are set for a 2025 release on the Nintendo Switch. We recognize that the Switch has a vast audience, and as long as we can create compelling new software, we intend to continue rolling out new titles.”
He added, “However, exclusive games have their place when new hardware is launched. Therefore, we aim to explore numerous strategies to ensure that both the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 provide entertainment to as many players as possible.”
Fans eagerly anticipating the next console can look forward to more details during a Nintendo Direct presentation focused on Nintendo Switch 2. This broadcast is scheduled for Wednesday, April 2, at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET / 2 p.m. BST / 3 p.m. CEST.
While the Nintendo Switch 2 is set for a global release in 2025, the exact launch date remains under wraps.
