Elon Musk, known as the wealthiest individual on the planet and now seemingly close to President-elect Trump, is preparing to dive into the world of video games by launching his own gaming studio.
On X—formerly Twitter, which Musk acquired in October 2022—he shared some loosely outlined plans. This platform has seen a decline in users, especially after the presidential election. On the morning of November 27, Musk expressed his view that, “Too many game studios […] are owned by massive corporations.” He then introduced his own large entity, xAI, declaring that it will be establishing an AI-driven game studio to “make games great again.”
xAI describes itself as an organization dedicated to developing artificial intelligence with the goal of accelerating human scientific discovery. They emphasize their mission to enhance our collective understanding of the universe. Many recognize the company for its creation, Grok, a ChatGPT-style bot accessible to X Premium subscribers. Musk established xAI in March 2023.
For those who have already left X in search of better alternatives, it seems we might still want to pay attention to Musk. As he strengthens his alliance with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump—a man known for backing the enterprises of his allies while opposing their adversaries—Musk’s moves in the gaming industry could be significant.
