After nearly two decades at Electronic Arts and BioWare, Corinne Busche, a seasoned game director, is bidding farewell to the company. This news first surfaced through Jeff Grubb, and Busche later confirmed it in a statement to Eurogamer. During her time at EA, Busche played a pivotal role in the development of the upcoming Dragon Age: The Veilguard, set for release in 2024. While specific details about her new destination remain under wraps, Busche described it as an opportunity too good to pass up.
Reflecting on her decision, Busche shared, “Ultimately, it boils down to personal fulfillment. I achieved what I aimed to at BioWare. My goal was to steer Dragon Age back to its roots as a top-quality single-player RPG. Having the chance to be part of that journey was truly an honor.”
Acknowledging the ups and downs of the development process, she noted, “Creating games amidst such challenges rarely culminates in a successful launch. Yet, our team persevered and succeeded, despite the obstacles. The effort was immense and took its toll. Although BioWare faces cultural challenges, I genuinely believe they’re heading in the right direction.”
Regarding her next steps, Busche expressed, “I’m leaving on my own terms, having been offered a chance I simply couldn’t resist. Though I’m keeping specifics under wraps for now, I can assure you that my next venture will continue the tradition of crafting compelling characters in the CRPG genre.”
