As first highlighted by Eurogamer, it’s come to light that Corinne Busche, the director of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, is parting ways with BioWare and EA after an 18-year tenure.
### Dragon Age: The Veilguard Director Corinne Busche Pursues Irresistible CRPG Opportunity
Busche has released a statement about her decision to leave. She’s stepping into a fresh role, diving into the creation of a CRPG that she simply couldn’t refuse. While details about her new venture or its location are still under wraps, the excitement is palpable.
Reflecting on her time at BioWare, Busche shared, “Ultimately, this move is about personal satisfaction. I accomplished what I set out to do at BioWare—steer the ship back on course. I have a deep affection for Dragon Age and BioWare, and revitalizing the series as a high-quality single-player RPG has been an incredible honor.”
“That journey was no walk in the park, as projects with rocky development phases rarely see the light of day, let alone shine brightly upon release. But we, as a dedicated team, pulled it off. It demanded a lot, both personally and professionally. BioWare still has areas to evolve in culturally, yet I sincerely believe they are heading in the right direction.”
“My decision to leave was entirely my own, motivated by a chance I simply couldn’t pass up. I’m not ready to divulge more at this moment, but rest assured, it’s in the CRPG realm and will carry on the legacy of captivating characters.”
During her time at EA, Busche also contributed to various other projects, including expansions for The Sims 3, The Sims 4, and The Simpsons.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard, launched just last year, was well-received, securing an 82 rating on Metacritic. However, some in the gaming sphere targeted it with review bombs, labeling it “woke.” In response, Metacritic affirmed its commitment to moderation and tracking any breaches of its terms of use.
