Yesterday, Sony pulled back the curtain on the PS Plus games lineup for December 2024, coinciding with PlayStation’s 30th anniversary celebrations. However, many players were left wanting more. Included in next month’s Essential games is a title that had been removed from PS Plus Extra earlier this year, meaning that many subscribers have recently already given it a spin.
Fans Believe PS Plus Missed the Mark for the 30th Anniversary
In the announcement, Sony revealed that December’s PS Plus games lineup features "It Takes Two," "Aliens: Dark Descent," and "Temtem." Of note, "It Takes Two" was previously a part of PS Plus Extra but got the axe earlier this year.
Looking at the feedback peppered across the PS Blog, gaming forums, and social media, it’s clear that players aren’t really against the games themselves. Their disappointment lies more in the feeling that the selection doesn’t live up to expectations, especially considering the significance of the anniversary.
One subscriber didn’t hold back, stating, “This feels like the most impersonal and indifferent anniversary giveaway I’ve ever seen, particularly for a landmark 30th anniversary.” Another added, “Today’s announcement was so lackluster, I felt compelled to comment for the first time.” There was also a sentiment of disappointment shared by a subscriber who said, “I’m not usually one to gripe on blogs, but this is just underwhelming.”
Although the full routing for PS Plus Extra and Premium games for December 2024 hasn’t been disclosed yet, Premium subscribers are in line for three fan-favorite classics and an exciting game trial.
