Nintendo recently lifted the veil on its upcoming console, igniting excitement and confirming what many had speculated for months. However, the list of confirmed titles for the Switch 2 is still quite limited.
When Nintendo made its announcement on January 16, the focus was largely on the new hardware, with only a single game mentioned in the presentation. Still, a few developers had already confirmed some titles leading up to this reveal, and we can anticipate more announcements cascading in soon, especially with a new Nintendo Direct scheduled for April 2.
Now, if the initial lineup doesn’t immediately catch your interest, don’t worry too much. Thanks to backward compatibility, you’ll have a library of games ready to dive into on day one, even if you have to wait patiently for your favorite exclusives.
As of January 21, we’ve updated our confirmed games list to include Synth Beasts.
Our initial games list for the Switch 2 is brief, but here’s what we’ve gathered so far:
And that’s about everything we currently know. Yet, there’s plenty of speculation about whether titles announced for the current Switch will make their way to the new console.
Thinking back, Nintendo has a history of releasing games across multiple platforms. Remember when The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess launched simultaneously on both the GameCube and Wii? Or how Breath of the Wild made its grand entrance on the original Switch alongside its Wii U version? With this precedent, we might see Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4 join the Switch 2 lineup, taking full advantage of the enhanced hardware.
While none of this is certain yet, we’re keeping our eyes peeled for the Nintendo Direct in April, which should shed more light on upcoming titles. Whether these games jump to the new console or remain Switch exclusives, the backward compatibility feature will ensure you won’t miss out, offering a seamless transition to your new gaming adventures.
