Chronostrike has arrived as the latest addition to the VR gaming landscape, offering a fresh take on the SUPERHOT-like genre with its co-op shooter experience on Quest.
Brought to life by Greensky Games (known for Swarm 2), Chronostrike embraces a gameplay style reminiscent of SUPERHOT VR, where the passage of time is tethered to your movements. Drawing inspiration from Christopher Nolan’s mind-bending 2010 film, Inception, the game is set in the year 2135, a time when digital memories are vulnerable to hacking, and time itself has been weaponized.
The heart of Chronostrike is its emphasis on teamwork. Players, stepping into the shoes of agents, must collaborate to unravel and survive a “centuries-old” conspiracy that endangers Earth. The game introduces dynamic interactions, allowing teammates to exchange weapons, deflect bullets in a Matrix-like slow-motion, and highlights a core mechanic where a single hit leads to instant demise.
With its debut last week, Chronostrike joins a growing roster of VR games inspired by the unique mechanics of SUPERHOT. Notable among these is Action Hero from Fast Travel Games, which incorporates a cinematic layer by having players shoot scenes for various movies. Meanwhile, Allware’s COLD VR flips the script, making time slow when you move, and Vendetta Forever spices things up with its ‘Hot Action’ modifier.
Ready for action, Chronostrike is now available on the Meta Quest platform, priced at $25.
