Last week, RuneScape: Dragonwilds made an impressive splash on Steam, securing its spot as the second highest-earning game on the platform. This new installment from Jagex, which hit the virtual shelves on April 15th, has drawn in a peak of 52,641 players all at once, according to SteamDB’s statistics. It’s a refreshing sight to see such a strong start from a fresh release under Jagex’s banner.
Despite Dragonwilds’ success, it couldn’t quite topple Counter-Strike 2, which held onto its title as the top earner for the week. Meanwhile, Schedule 1 was nudged down to third place due to RuneScape: Dragonwilds’ arrival, with Steam Deck comfortably holding onto the fourth position once again.
Rising significantly in popularity, the action RPG Last Epoch shot up 76 spots to claim fifth place, benefiting from the rollout of its eagerly anticipated second season of content. The cooperative horror game REPO remained steady in sixth.
Marvel Rivals slid four places to settle at seventh, while Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian nudged up one spot, encouraged by its ongoing discount on Steam.
Despite encountering some technical hiccups at launch, the newcomer Tempest Rising, a spiritual successor to Command and Conquer, managed to break into the top ten, debuting at number ten.
Here’s how the top ten on Steam shaped up for the week ending April 22nd:
1. Counter-Strike 2, Valve
2. RuneScape: Dragonwilds, Jagex
3. Schedule 1, TVGS
4. Steam Deck, Valve
5. Last Epoch, Eleventh Hour
6. REPO
