Exciting developments are underway as The Molasses Flood, a Boston-based game developer, has now become part of the renowned Polish gaming powerhouse, CD Projekt Red.
The announcement was made through a post on The Molasses Flood’s website, revealing that since April 1st, the studio has been fully integrated into the Cyberpunk 2077 creator. It’s important to note, however, that this merger will not impact the studio’s previous creations, namely The Flame in the Flood and Drake Hollow, which were developed prior to its acquisition by CD Projekt in 2021. Currently, the team is hard at work on Project Sirius, an ambitious multiplayer game set within the beloved Witcher universe.
Amidst this major transition, Damian Isla, the founder of The Molasses Flood, has decided to part ways with the studio. Reflecting on this change, he shared his thoughts on LinkedIn.
“This is undeniably a significant shift,” he expressed. “The Molasses Flood has been a central part of my life for well over a decade. I’m incredibly proud of what we built—a studio that endured for so many years, despite the often challenging market conditions for smaller teams like ours. We’ve created some unique and memorable experiences, and I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with truly talented and generous individuals in the industry.”
With this merger, an exciting new chapter begins for The Molasses Flood, now bolstered by the support and resources of CD Projekt Red.
