Ayaneo, renowned for its handheld gaming consoles, recently revealed its latest flagship model, the Ayaneo 3. This new device builds on the success of its predecessor by keeping a similar design and button layout but boasting significant improvements in hardware.
According to a post on Ayaneo’s blog, buyers will have the option to choose between two powerful processors for the Ayaneo 3: either the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U or the beefier AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. The console sports a vibrant seven-inch display, available in either a high-refresh LCD or an OLED HDR variant, ensuring an immersive gaming experience. Additionally, Ayaneo has introduced two extra buttons on the back of the console, providing gamers with even more control options.
As of now, Ayaneo hasn’t shared further details regarding RAM, storage, or pricing. So, we’ll have to sit tight until they disclose more. To give you an idea, the previous Ayaneo 2 offered configurations with 16GB or 32GB of RAM and storage options from 512GB to 2TB. Its price ranged from $1,099 to $1,549, with special editions costing more. It’s reasonable to expect the Ayaneo 3 to follow a similar pattern, albeit with a potential bump in price.
The Ayaneo 3 is among the first handheld devices to incorporate the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. Although most current games may not make use of the NPU in this chipset, the processor’s enhanced capabilities—aided by four extra cores, Zen 5 architecture, and an AMD Radeon 890M integrated GPU—equip it with more power than the Ryzen 7 8840U. This makes it a powerhouse compared to many existing PC gaming handhelds, which typically feature the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
Entering an already competitive market, the Ayaneo 3 faces stiff competition from other anticipated releases, like the ROG Ally 2, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and Lenovo Legion Go Gen Two, expected to launch by late this year or early next. Ayaneo 3’s challenge will be to carve out its niche, setting itself apart from its rivals and testing what gaming experiences it can deliver to handheld enthusiasts.
