Fast Travel Games, a well-known name in the world of VR, has just revealed some exciting news for fans of virtual reality shooters. Their latest creation, “Action Hero,” inspired by the popular game Superhot, is ready to make its debut on Quest next month.
“Action Hero” brings a fresh twist by incorporating the unique time manipulation feature that Superhot fans will recognize. In this game, time only progresses when you move, giving you the chance to plan out your moves with precision, much like the iconic sequences in a John Wick film.
Scheduled for release on December 12th, this game is designed for Quest 2 headsets and newer models. Players will dive into the roles of protagonists in five distinct ‘movies,’ each exploring multiple genres and offering a diverse gameplay experience.
According to the studio, “Each movie unfolds in four acts, with every act comprising five scenes. Players fight their way through these scenes by taking down enemies and avoiding obstacles, all in a dramatic slow motion that speeds up with their movements. Quick thinking and strategic maneuvering are a must because taking a hit sends you back to the start of the act.”
So far, Fast Travel Games has teased a few genres, including a thrilling heist movie, an Indiana Jones-esque adventure, a futuristic cyborg tale, and a ninja-themed story prominently featured in the latest trailer shown above.
Apart from engaging in slow-motion shootouts, “Action Hero” promises adrenaline-pumping boss battles and a variety of weapons tailored for each movie style. Moreover, the studio plans to offer five extra ‘Director’s Cuts,’ which delve into altered versions of levels, presenting players with fresh, challenging, and often quirky scenarios.
Exclusively releasing for Quest 2 and newer headsets on December 12th at a price of $20, “Action Hero” is available for pre-release wishlisting on the Horizon Store. Get ready to step into the shoes of an action legend!
