Players of Helldivers 2 might have been hoping for a bigger update this week, but the latest mission at least ramps up the excitement with high-stakes Galactic War action. If you’ve had enough of the ominous purple Meridian death ball obliterating planets, now’s your chance to put an end to it.
So far, it’s claimed three worlds—Moradesh, Angel’s Venture, and most recently Ivis—leaving players either grieving or, in some cases, a bit indifferent as the death ball plotline drags on. It’s about time someone stopped it before it reaches Super Earth.
Thanks to a recent victory on Wezen, divers have now constructed an Exosuit Support Bay on their Democracy Space Station, which has conveniently reduced exosuit stratagem cooldowns by 35% for everyone.
According to the latest mission briefing, “Center of Science astrophysicists on Fenrir III have almost completed the groundwork to launch the third and final phase to halt the Meridian Singularity. However, delving deeper into the complex field of Dark Energy manipulation demands a substantial supply of E-710 for experimentation.”
The tweet from Helldivers 2 states: “High Command has greenlit a second limited expedition into the Gloom, aimed at advancing our technology to finally close the Meridian Wormhole. Check your Galactic Map for further details.”
“The Gloom, a perilous but lucrative source of E-710, was explored in our first scientific foray. High Command’s approval for a second venture is to bolster our tech and, hopefully, finally seal the Meridian Wormhole. Any excess E-710 might be allocated to commercial interests for the benefit of all.”
To free Nivel 43, secure E-710, and extinguish the death ball, players will have to face “Gloom-specific terminid strains,” as they have in prior excursions. Bring on the swarm, those bothersome bugs can’t stand in the way.
The buzz among players suggests excitement about returning to the Gloom. “THERE’S ANOTHER GLOOM EXPEDITION,” exclaimed one enthusiastic Redditor, with others joining in the excitement over the prospect of squashing more terminids. It seems people are eager for a change of pace from battling automatons and illuminates. A refreshing wave of enthusiasm, indeed.
