Fans eagerly awaiting news about Marvel’s Wolverine for the PS5 have been pressing Insomniac Games for updates, and the developer has once again made it clear they’ll release information only when they’re good and ready. They’re not about to let outside pressure dictate their schedule.
Recently, in the midst of chatter about the Spider-Man 2 PC port, a fan criticized Insomniac, implying they were neglecting PS5 players who are desperate for Wolverine news. The comment had a sarcastic undertone, labeling the studio as a “great team” in jest.
While Insomniac usually doesn’t engage with critical tweets like this, their social media team chose to set the record straight. “We’ll share news about the game when we are ready to share it,” they emphasized, stressing that the decision is entirely theirs. “That will always be our answer. We can’t act on everything requested when things take time, resources, and the greenlight to share them,” they elaborated.
Despite the lack of updates, they assured fans that Wolverine’s development is very much underway.
Towards the end of 2023, Insomniac Games faced a tough challenge—a major ransomware attack that led to a large chunk of Wolverine’s alpha footage being leaked online. The studio expressed their disappointment over the breach but clarified it hadn’t affected the game’s development timeline or their reveal strategy.
Marvel’s Wolverine was first announced back in September 2021, but since then, updates have been sparse. Given the industry’s trend toward longer development phases, it might still be some time before we see substantial gameplay footage. Patience, it seems, is the name of the game.
