A new wave of excitement is building in the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) universe with an intriguing development. Word on the street is that a new Pokémon TCG set, named “Inferno X,” has been leaked. According to the buzz, this set might bring back the thrilling Mega Evolutions from Pokémon X & Y, initially hosted on the Nintendo 3DS.
Anticipation is at an all-time high as the release is tentatively scheduled for Japan, aiming for an October or November 2025 debut. However, before Inferno X fires up our card collections, we can expect the Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia sets to set the stage in August, adding to the excitement.
Pokémon TCG is all set for a bustling 2025 with a barrage of expansions. The journey begins with the much-anticipated Pokémon TCG Destined Rivals expansion in May, featuring a whopping 240 cards. In addition, the Black Bolt and White Flare sets are slated for a summer reveal, with June being eyed for their rollout. And that’s not all — there are whispers of yet another Mega Evolution set making its debut later this year in Japan, according to a recently discovered trademark.
The Pokémon Company has filed a new trademark in Japan for “Inferno X,” as highlighted by the Pokémon news hub, PokéBeach. If the leaks about Japan’s Pokémon TCG schedule hold any water, we could be welcoming the Inferno X set as soon as October or November. This set is rumored to include classic Mega Evolutions like Mega Charizard X, rekindling fond memories for longstanding Pokémon fans. Typically, trademarks drop six to nine months before the TCG sets hit the shelves, though they don’t always follow a chronological order. Hence, until there’s an official word from The Pokémon Company, take these dates with a grain of salt.
Announced during the Pokémon Presents showcase on February 27, the upcoming Pokémon TCG sets, Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia, are gearing up for an August release. These sets will spotlight fan favorites like Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir. As the year progresses, even more TCG sets are expected to roll out, culminating in the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A for the Nintendo Switch. Given Mega Charizard’s popularity, it’s highly likely we’ll see it feature in these Mega Evolution series.
While the release schedule for the Mega Evolution series outside Japan remains under wraps, there’s confirmation that Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia will go global in 2025. The Pokémon Company is stepping up its production game, striving to meet the card’s sky-high demand and ensure broader availability. As part of this initiative, they plan to reprint and restock previous Pokémon TCG products, making them available through the Pokémon Center online and retailers like GameStop. So, gear up Trainers; it’s going to be an epic journey!
