The Binary Mill, an indie XR studio, has exciting news for PSVR 2 enthusiasts as their space-themed mining adventure, Into Black (2024), is set to make its debut beyond the confines of Quest. Fans of the Deep Rock Galactic-style gameplay will be glad to see it branching out soon.
Originally launched for Quest in October, this game lets you dive into a thrilling solo or co-op experience with up to four players. The adventure is about gathering resources, upgrading your gear, and keeping your ship in top shape. Throughout more than 20 levels featuring diverse biomes, you’ll face fierce adversaries while scavenging for enough parts to escape the challenging alien terrain.
For those eager for a competitive edge, the PSVR 2 launch introduces the ‘Singularity’ mode. It’s a thrilling PvPvE setup where you can challenge up to 11 other players. As the tagline suggests, you’ll be forming precarious alliances and navigating a closing labyrinth. The goal? Snagging as much loot as possible, but beware–greed can be your downfall.
The transition to PSVR 2 comes with a host of upgrades. Expect revamped environments, improved lighting with dynamic effects, HDR, and eye-tracked foveated rendering. Plus, you’ll experience more nuanced haptic feedback, thanks to the PS Sense’s adaptive triggers and the PSVR 2’s rumble feature.
Curiously, there’s no confirmation of cross-play with Quest right now. The studio has yet to announce if this feature will be included later. An update clarified that cross-play won’t be available at launch.
While we’re still waiting on a detailed trailer showcasing all the PSVR 2 enhancements, a couple of images and GIFs have been shared to give players a taste of what’s to come.
There’s no official release date just yet, but The Binary Mill assures us it’ll be "soon." Meanwhile, if you’re as excited as we are, you can add Into Black to your wishlist on the PlayStation Store for PSVR 2.
