Last Thursday, orders for Bigscreen’s new Beyond 2 headset came pouring in at a staggering rate. The PC VR headset company has shared that this successor to their original slim and lightweight model has outsold its predecessor in just 24 hours, achieving sales figures in that single day equivalent to what it took the initial Beyond six months to reach.
The impressive numbers didn’t stop there. Right out of the gate, Beyond 2 showed its popularity by surpassing the first day’s sales of Beyond 1 within merely 25 minutes. Not long after, within an hour, the sales had doubled compared to Beyond 1’s entire launch day. And by the end of 10 hours, Beyond 2 sold more units than Beyond 1 did in its initial four-month period.
In a Friday post on platform X, Bigscreen’s founder and CEO, Darshan Shankar, highlighted just how historic these first-day sales were: “In the first 24 hours, Beyond 2 sold 10 TIMES what Beyond 1 achieved on its initial launch day two years back. In those 24 hours, Beyond 2 matched the sales Beyond 1 reached in six months. That’s truly remarkable.”
What’s intriguing is that this success came without any advertising expenses. “We didn’t pay influencers to hype our product nor did we invest in a costly agency video. No advertising at all,” Shankar pointed out.
However, they did distribute a small number of early units—around 10—of Beyond 2 to esteemed reviewers, including those from Tested, Thrillseeker, MRTV, and VR Flight Sim Guy, which certainly helped spread the word organically.
If you missed out on the buzz, you can check out the detailed specs, pricing, and launch schedule. The Beyond 2 offers two distinct versions: one features eye-tracking technology (Beyond 2e) and the other does not, with the prices set at $1,019 and $1,219, respectively.
While it incorporates the same dual 1-inch 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays as the original, Beyond 2’s major enhancements include a more extensive field-of-view (FOV) and significantly improved clarity, thanks to a sophisticated new pancake lens design. This upgrade boosts the diagonal FOV to 116 degrees, up from the original’s 102 degrees, alongside an adjustable IPD mechanism in a more lightweight design at just 107 grams.
Initially, shipments for the first batch were anticipated for April for Beyond 2 and May for Beyond 2e. However, as of now, any new orders for Beyond 2 and Beyond 2e are expected to ship in June.
