According to recent updates, the launch of NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 series GPUs has been pushed back, with both models now expected to hit the market a little later than originally planned.
Just as excitement was building for the upcoming release of the GeForce RTX 5070, whispers of delays for the RTX 5060 series have started to surface. Initially, fans were eager for a March debut with an April release for purchase, but the latest reports suggest we’ve got to wait beyond that timeframe.
While there hasn’t been much clarity on the reasons behind this delay, it’s been confirmed through Board Channels that all of NVIDIA’s board partners have been informed. This information hasn’t been officially announced by NVIDIA, yet it aligns with ongoing chatter around potential bugs and supply chain hiccups as factors contributing to these setbacks. However, nothing has been confirmed publicly by NVIDIA on these speculations.
Board Channels shared, "NVIDIA has notified their AIC partners via email about delaying the release of the new RTX 5060 Ti and 5060 series products. The RTX 5060 Ti models, both the 16GB and 8GB versions, are now likely to be released around mid-April, while we should expect the RTX 5060 to follow in mid-May. Nonetheless, precise dates await further confirmation from NVIDIA."
Thus, the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti now seems set for a ‘mid-April’ debut, and the RTX 5060 will trail about a month behind, aiming for a ‘mid-May’ release. Both RTX 5060 Ti variants are anticipated to launch simultaneously. Precise launch dates are still under wraps and haven’t even been shared with NVIDIA’s board partners yet.
This delay sets the stage for a potential head-to-head with AMD’s anticipated RX 9060 series, which includes the RX 9060 XT and RX 9060 cards that offer 8 GB and 16 GB options, placing them in direct competition with NVIDIA’s 8 GB and 16 GB RTX 5060 Ti cards. AMD’s launch is also projected for the second quarter, although specifics remain uncertain.
Diving into specs, the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti is poised to be the evolutionary step up from the RTX 4060 Ti, boasting 4608 CUDA Cores, 8/16 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, and a 180W TDP. Meanwhile, the RTX 5060 is set to supplant the RTX 4060, featuring 3840 CUDA Cores, 8 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, and a 150W TDP. A recent leak even suggested a 12 GB VRAM version of the RTX 5060, though NVIDIA hasn’t officially confirmed this, raising the prospect that it might outshine the RX 9060, which is speculated to offer only an 8 GB variant.
