Virtuix has just unveiled an intriguing new addition for their Omni One VR treadmill system—a tourism app that allows users to stroll through some of the globe’s most memorable spots, all from the comfort of their own home.
Launching on March 6th, the app, named TREKS, transforms the concept of armchair travel by blending immersive video with real physical movement. Picture this: you’re wandering the scenic trails of the Grand Canyon, exploring New York’s bustling Central Park, or tracing the historic footsteps within Saudi Arabia’s Fort Masmak—all in a single afternoon.
Developed by Virtuix’s own in-house team, Virtuix Studios, Treks is set to be an exclusive offering on the Omni One Game Store, retailing for $30. At launch, users will find four incredible destinations ready to explore:
- Grand Canyon: Discover the awe-inspiring landscapes of this natural wonder as you walk its well-trodden paths.
- Niagara Falls: Feel the mist from both sides of the border as you take in the majestic power of the falls.
- New York City: Wander through iconic sights like the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
- Saudi Arabia: Immerse yourself in the storied past of Fort Masmak and the breathtaking architecture of Al Rajhi Mosque.
Virtuix Studios has exciting plans for expanding TREKS, with additional locations and landmarks promised as downloadable content in the months to follow. Rumor has it these will include even more historical sites and natural masterpieces. Plus, for those wondering, spending just an hour in TREKS is said to burn around 500 calories, making it both an adventure and a workout.
Jan Goetgeluk, CEO of Virtuix, shares, "With TREKS, you’re not just watching these destinations—you’re moving through them. It’s a great way to stay active while exploring some of the world’s most iconic places. Fitness and adventure go hand in hand, and TREKS brings that to life in a whole new way."
If you’re considering adding this immersive experience to your setup, the Omni One system comes in at $3,495. The package includes the innovative VR treadmill and a custom Pico 4 Enterprise headset. Whether you’re accessing native apps or tethering to a VR-ready PC—either wired or wirelessly—you’re good to go.
This announcement builds on last month’s news that Omni One now supports a robust library of over 55 games, including popular titles like Arizona Sunshine Remake, Arizona Sunshine 2, and Into The Radius. Thanks to the Omni Connect PC Driver, the system also opens the door to SteamVR games, with tools to customize controls and tweak settings, even for those games not specifically built for VR walking.
Whether you’re in it for the scenic walks or the calorie-busting workouts, TREKS on the Omni One promises an unparalleled VR outing.
