Dead By Daylight has mastered the art of crossovers, especially when it comes to incorporating iconic killers from renowned horror franchises. These additions come complete with meticulously recreated characters, unique perks, and the thrill of playing as legendary horror icons like the Xenomorph from Alien or Pyramid Head from Silent Hill. While new characters continually enhance the game’s roster, Behaviour Interactive recently announced that one of these terrifying legends is making an exit. Soon, The Cenobite will no longer be available in Dead By Daylight.
Fans of the infamous Pinhead from the Hellraiser series will soon find that he’s going on an indefinite hiatus from the game. The entire Hellraiser Chapter is set to be removed, and while Behaviour hasn’t given a detailed explanation, they simply noted that “unexpected changes may occur” in live service games. This suggests that the licensing agreement for the Hellraiser content has likely concluded.
For those who already possess Pinhead—or manage to snag him before his departure—rest assured, you’ll still have access to all purchased Hellraiser content. His distinct perks will remain unchanged for these players. However, if you haven’t acquired him, the perks will be renamed and added to the general pool, replicating the approach for any Hellraiser-specific achievements.
If you’re keen to keep playing as Pinhead, now’s your opportunity. Behaviour is hosting a Last Chance sale, offering 50% off all Hellraiser-related items, including The Chatterer Legendary Outfit, until The Cenobite leaves The Fog for good.
Pinhead’s last day to be unlocked in Dead By Daylight is Friday, April 4 at 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm BST/ 5pm CEST.
Seeing such an iconic character leave Dead By Daylight is certainly a letdown, even though the game still boasts a wide variety of captivating characters. Existing Pinhead owners can breathe easy as they’ll retain access, but this situation adds a layer of uncertainty—could other beloved characters also vanish due to similar licensing constraints? The Hellraiser DLC has been a staple since August 2021, providing fans with years of chilling enjoyment.
