Schell Games, in collaboration with Innersloth, has exciting news for fans of Among Us. They’re introducing flatscreen support to Among Us VR from 2022, allowing both VR enthusiasts and PC gamers to enjoy cross-platform play.
In a move to broaden its appeal, the companies have announced a rebranding of the VR game to Among Us 3D. This marks the first instance where PC players can experience the game from a first-person viewpoint.
Schell Games confirmed that Among Us 3D will seamlessly connect PC users with VR players across a variety of platforms. This includes popular options like Quest, SteamVR, PSVR 2, and Pico headsets.
However, it’s important to note that Among Us 3D won’t be compatible with the original 2D version of Among Us from 2018. Since the debut of Among Us VR in November 2022, these versions have remained distinct.
“We’re thrilled to deliver a first-person experience to a wider audience with Among Us 3D,” expressed Ryan Hall, Project Director at Schell Games. “This integration of VR and PC players expands the ways in which you can slyly betray your friends—making the game even more enjoyable for everyone involved!”
In the coming months, players can expect to see the new branding take shape. This will include updates in store listings, on official websites, and within the game’s own graphics.
Furthermore, Among Us 3D introduces a fresh in-game currency dubbed ‘Stardust’. This will provide players with opportunities to buy cosmetic items, which the teams behind the game say will aid in its ongoing expansion.
There’s no set release date just yet, but the wait might not be long. Among Us 3D will be a featured title at Steam Next Fest, offering an exclusive early demo to eager players before its launch.
