In a thrilling announcement, indie game developer Chipo y Juan revealed that their upcoming mixed reality game, Detective VR, will be hitting Quest headsets next week, drawing inspiration from the sci-fi classic Minority Report.
Set for release on February 27th for the Quest 3 and 3S, Detective VR plunges players into a gripping narrative experience. It lets you manipulate time, gather vital clues, and interview witnesses seamlessly in Passthrough mode, making your living room the scene of the investigation.
The developers say the game blends elements from other notable titles like Return of the Obra Dinn and Immortality, with plenty of twists and turns reminiscent of the 2002 hit Minority Report. Players won’t always find the path straightforward, as unreliable testimonies will challenge you to get the truth by questioning suspects both in mixed and virtual reality.
Designed exclusively for the Quest platform, the game offers around five hours of captivating, story-driven gameplay. You’ll have the power to rewind, pause, and play through scenes to uncover hidden clues, engaging with six fully motion-captured and voiced characters throughout your investigation.
And here’s a fun tidbit—fans of series like The Crown, Succession, and Doctor Who might recognize some of the voices, as the cast includes talents like Luke Mably, Angus Wright, Melissa Bright, Hannah Wright, David Clark, and Bryony Byrne.
Chipo y Juan, based in Marseille, France, isn’t new to the VR scene. They’ve created a variety of VR projects, like the narrative-driven VORTEX VR for Quest, along with several VR experiences for art exhibitions.
If you’re eager to get a head start, Detective VR is available for pre-order right now on the Horizon Store for Quest 3 and 3S. It’s being offered at a special pre-order price of $24, a nice little discount from the regular $30 price tag.
