There’s definitely been no shortage of projects aiming to merge one Fallout game with another, but a new trend is taking this enthusiasm to a familiar yet unexpected platform, The Sims 2. A fan project dubbed “The Sims 2: New Vegas” breathes new life into the beloved Fallout: New Vegas, demonstrating yet again the magic that happens when creative Fallout fans get inspired.
This ambitious venture was highlighted by TheGamer and is currently gaining traction on its own subreddit. The mastermind behind this endeavor is someone who goes by the name FalloutPropMaster, known in the real world as Baron Pulitzer. By day, Baron is at the helm of an independent film production company, but by night, he’s documenting this exciting journey which has been unfolding over the past week.
In his introductory post on the subreddit, he admits his impatience in waiting for an official remastered version of Fallout: New Vegas. “My dream is a remaster that lets us explore some of the cut content from the Beta version of Fallout: New Vegas,” he states. After stumbling upon a few casino rebuilds from New Vegas on ModTheSims by a user named ‘lilipad’, Baron felt inspired to recreate New Vegas inside The Sims 2 using his prior experience modding Fallout 3 and New Vegas, although this venture into The Sims is new for him.
Over the last week, he’s been revisiting tools like Milkshape, FOMM, Blender, and Nifscope—software he hasn’t used in over ten years. This project is a double whammy of nostalgic fun and a fresh challenge for his free time.
So far, Baron has shared his vision for plotting out buildings in his Mojave Wasteland neighborhood, which will naturally host iconic locations like The Strip and Freeside. He’s also crafted a faithful rendition of Goodsprings’ Prospector Saloon—because, realistically, where else would one start such a project?
Characters are also coming to life in this virtual New Vegas. Baron has showcased screenshots featuring the iconic Vulpes Inculta from Caesar’s Legion casually hanging out with some ghouls and enjoying a game of kickball. There’s also a glimpse of a household of companions, undoubtedly exchanging tales of surviving epic encounters with a certain adventurous courier.
He’s even tinkering with the user interface, giving it a makeover that oozes classic Fallout vibes, which is a treat for fans.
This project is definitely one to watch, especially for those diving back into The Sims 2 via the Legacy Collection remaster. If you ever find yourself pining for another wild adventure through the Mojave—perhaps as a cannibal with ambitions to take down Mr. House while steering clear of the NCR’s judgmental gazes—this fan-made project might just hit the spot.
