Fast Travel Games has just rolled out a fresh update for its VR shooter, Action Hero (2024), drawing inspiration from the popular Superhot. This update introduces a chilling new level and an exciting arcade mode sure to keep players on their toes.
Available at no extra cost, the update adds the ‘Cult of Darkness’ level to all Quest headsets starting from Quest 2. However, the new arcade mode is exclusively accessible on Quest 3 and Quest 3S, offering players a unique experience.
In the haunting, horror-themed ‘Cult of Darkness’ mission, players will have to fight their way through a series of spine-tingling challenges. Fast Travel Games has introduced new enemies, such as terrifying zombies, alongside an arsenal of new weapons to enhance the adrenaline rush.
The newly included arcade mode for Quest 3 takes the action to a different level. This mode allows players to aim for top scores across all existing levels of the game, with added enhancements to the visual effects and user interface for an even more immersive experience.
Here’s a quick rundown of the new features that are now available:
-
6 Core Movies & 6 Director’s Cuts: Get absorbed in thrilling action sequences as you break into enemy bases, undertake explosive heists, and explore ancient ruins across various movie genres. Once you’ve conquered the main scenes, the Director’s Cut levels present more complex and crazy challenges.
-
Comfortable, Cinematic Design: The game’s stationary combat design focuses on real physical movement over mere button mashing, while its slow-motion action lets you engage foes with style and precision.
- Weekly Shot Challenge & Other Features: Sharpen your skills for high scores, seek out hidden collectibles, or ease into the game with the Relaxed Mode. The Weekly Shot Challenge brings a unique twist with four random acts combined into one, testing players’ abilities as they compete for the top score.
Action Hero first launched in December exclusively for Quest, offering electrifying shootouts in levels that nod to iconic movie genres, all set in meticulous slow motion. The game, priced at a budget-friendly $20, has been well-received on the Horizon Store, boasting a commendable 4.7 out of 5 rating from around 150 reviews.
