Ever since the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5 was announced, it feels like the floodgates have opened for Xbox games to make their way to Sony’s gaming platform. There’s been some buzz for quite some time now about Marcus Fenix possibly taking his battle against the Locust Horde to PlayStation consoles later this year. However, it seems what’s actually on the horizon is a collection featuring the first three entries of Gears of War, set to launch simultaneously on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Gears of War Collection: First Three Games Arriving on PS5
According to eXtas1s, a well-known leaker, work is underway on a Gears of War collection. While the exact announcement date is still up in the air, the claim is that this collection will be available across multiple platforms right from the start. It’s said to include cross-play capabilities, allowing players to team up or go head-to-head across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.
“I can discuss the Gears Collection now because confirming its existence has been quite a challenge, but it does seem to exist, and I can affirm that when it is announced, which I don’t know when it will be, it will be a multiplatform release from day one,” eXtas1s stated, according to a ResetEra translation by member Rychu. “I emphasize once more, when these kinds of remasters get announced, the old Gears games will be playable across different platforms. The only thing I haven’t confirmed yet is a Switch version, but it will support cross-play on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.”
This isn’t the first time whispers about Gears of War landing on PS5 have surfaced. Just earlier this month, Jez Corden from Windows Central suggested that Gears of War: Ultimate Edition might be headed to Sony’s console by 2025.
As with all leaks and speculation, it’s wise to approach this news with a bit of skepticism. Many insiders are echoing similar information, but game development can pivot unexpectedly, making this all speculative until official announcements are made. For now, we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.
