Sony has once again presented its yearly wrap-up of the most popular downloads for its various PlayStation platforms in 2024. While the ranking hasn’t shifted dramatically since PSVR 2’s inaugural year, the results were fairly predictable.
Now approaching its second anniversary, the PSVR 2 has sparked debate over its treatment since launching in February 2023. Some critics have pointed out a scarcity of exclusive games and the lack of developer enthusiasm similar to what we saw with the initial PSVR. Still, many dedicated fans of the system would argue otherwise.
There’s no denying that the PSVR 2 is an impressive piece of technology. It’s equipped to deliver higher render resolutions and visual richness that outshine even Meta’s Quest 3. Plus, the introduction of a wired adapter last June allows gamers to dive into PC VR experiences. However, a deeper look at the most downloaded titles on the PlayStation Store paints a clearer picture.
Here’s the updated chart of the top downloads, now including their original release dates:
### PSVR 2 Top Downloads 2024
| US/Canada | EU |
|———–|—–|
| Beat Saber (2018) | Beat Saber (2018) |

Unsurprisingly, the crowd-favorite Beat Saber from 2018 leads the charge in both North America and Europe. Its enduring appeal makes it an easy recommendation for new players on the platform.
New arrivals for 2024 include Vertigo Games’ Metro Awakening, which had the challenge of proving its mettle with just over a month since its release in November. Another noteworthy mention is Legendary Tales by Urban Wolf Games. It hit version 1.0 across major VR platforms in February 2024 after a long period in Early Access on Steam.
To give a fair shake, Vertigo Games’ Arizona Sunshine 2, a formidable follow-up in the zombie shooter genre, launched in December 2023. However, with just under a month of availability, it didn’t have much wiggle room to make a significant impact in the prior year’s rankings.
Looking back, there are plenty of familiar names. For those curious, here are the PSVR 2’s top downloads for 2023, reflecting its nearly complete first year after debuting in February:
