COLD VR, touted as a spiritual successor to the widely popular Superhot VR, is facing a slight delay from its initially scheduled release. Developer ALLWARE and publisher Perp Games have decided it needs a tad more tweaking before it can hit the shelves.
Initially set to make its debut today, January 21st, Cold VR will first appear on Quest and PC VR headsets, with plans to arrive on PSVR 2 shortly afterward. However, the development teams have opted to push the release by “a week or two,” assuring eager fans that updates are on the way that will showcase the game running smoothly on Quest.
The delay was announced on X by Perp Games, who noted that the additional time is necessary to ensure the game meets their vision. The statement highlighted their commitment to perfecting the game’s final presentation.
Cold VR mirrors the unique time-influenced mechanics of Superhot VR but spins it on its head. In a twist, time progresses when you remain still, prompting players to keep moving. So, taking a moment to catch your breath isn’t advisable, as the AI picks up speed whenever you’re stationary.
While anticipation builds, gamers can add Cold VR to their wishlists across various platforms. It’s available on the Horizon Store for Quest 2/3/Pro, Steam for PC VR headsets, and the PlayStation Store for PSVR 2, all priced at $20.
