Activision’s newest addition to the first-person shooter genre is continuing to dominate the sales charts. According to Mat Piscatella, executive director and analyst at Circana, the buzz around November 2024’s best-selling games and hardware in the U.S. confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 claimed the top spot for the month, holding strong since its impressive launch back in October.
This powerhouse title has now surpassed PlayStation’s Helldivers 2, securing its position as the second best-selling game of the year. It’s outpaced only by EA’s College Football 25, which has impressively set a new record as the best-selling sports game ever in the U.S. The success of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is also giving Xbox Game Pass a boost, with subscription spending rising by 8% compared to last year.
When it comes to consoles, the PlayStation 5 is leading the pack in both sales revenue and units sold. Trailing behind is the Nintendo Switch, with the Xbox Series X|S taking third place on the leaderboard.
In the list below, you’ll see the top-selling games for both the month and the year-to-date. It’s important to note, though, that this data isn’t comprehensive, as certain publishers and developers, like Focus Entertainment with Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, have opted not to disclose their digital sales figures.

Analysis: Has Microsoft Mastered the Call of Duty Formula?
As I’ve reflected on before, the debut of Call of Duty in the Xbox Game Pass lineup raised many eyebrows, but under Microsoft’s wing, the game seems to have struck the right balance. It’s held on as the top-selling game for two consecutive months while increasing Game Pass subscriptions.
Looking ahead, I’m curious about how the annual Call of Duty release schedule will evolve over the coming years, especially with most of Activision’s studios still committed to this franchise. For now, it’s likely that Microsoft is pleased with the outcome.
