In the latest development for Xbox enthusiasts, those enrolled in the Xbox Insiders program can now dive into streaming their owned games via Xbox Cloud Gaming, right from their consoles. This added benefit is available alongside some of the top Game Pass titles. While the lineup of games hasn’t expanded, if you have an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, you’re in luck! You can start streaming select titles on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
If you’re part of the alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha preview rings, you’ll be pleased to know that Microsoft has improved Xbox Cloud Gaming significantly for Insiders. As shared in an Xbox Wire post, those in the aforementioned rings now have the capability to stream their owned games on not just consoles, but also on PC, smartphones, and tablets across 28 countries. To access this feature, you need an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, as expected.
Originally anticipated to launch next year, console streaming’s early arrival makes this update particularly exciting. If you’re one of the testers, you’ll notice a cloud gaming badge on the eligible games within your Xbox console library. Filtering options like “Ready to play” and “Cloud gaming” make it easier to identify what you can stream.
Microsoft has also teased future improvements, including the ability to launch games directly from the Store app and streaming capabilities within the Xbox app for Windows PC.
When this feature was initially introduced last month, Game Pass Ultimate members could only stream their owned games through web browsers. Now, only 50 titles are available for streaming, but they include some big names like Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, among others.
We’re eagerly anticipating the full release of this feature to all players, which is expected around 2025. What about you? Are you excited to stream your favorite Xbox Series X|S games via Xbox Cloud Gaming? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
