Torn Banner Studios, the folks behind the popular Chivalry games, are going through some changes that involve letting a few of their team members go. This news came directly from the studio’s CEO and creative director, Steve Piggott, who shared the update on LinkedIn. While he didn’t specify exactly how many positions are being cut, he did provide some details about the process.
For those who will be leaving, Piggott assured that the company is offering severance packages and allowing them to keep their work computers. Additionally, Torn Banner is committed to helping these individuals find new opportunities at other gaming studios whenever possible.
Piggott explained, “Being a fully independent and self-financed studio brings its own set of challenges.” He emphasized that the company is handling this transition with a lot of care and gratitude towards those affected, acknowledging their role in shaping what Torn Banner Studios is today and praising their dedication and hard work.
It’s important to note that the development of Chivalry 2 won’t take a hit because of these layoffs. Piggott emphasized that the studio remains focused on delivering immersive cinematic experiences across different themes, whether it’s on the battlefield or tackling a zombie apocalypse. Their latest venture, No More Room in Hell 2, which recently hit early access, remains a top priority as they aim for a full release in 2025. The team is fully engaged, working closely with their community and sticking to the plans laid out in their roadmap.
As for Chivalry 2, which saw its final update earlier this year, everything remains status quo, with servers continuing to operate as usual. The studio reassures fans that, despite current circumstances, they’re full steam ahead on their projects.
