Intel’s journey in the graphics card arena isn’t wrapping up with their "Battlemage" series, as fresh buzz hints at the rollout of their next-gen "Celestial" and "Druid" architectures proceeding as planned.
Intel’s Steadfast Push in the Desktop GPU Market
With Intel’s Battlemage scheduled for release by mid-December, curiosity is swirling around what the tech giant has up its sleeve for the future of desktop GPUs. Given Intel’s recent history of a somewhat "slow" performance in the business, and previous GPU launches not hitting the mark, it’s understandable why expectations are mixed. However, a prominent leaker, known as @jaykihn0, assures us that Intel’s upcoming Celestial and Druid GPU lineups are firmly on track.
In one of his latest tweets, @jaykihn0 clarified any misunderstandings about Intel’s commitments to both desktop and laptop dGPUs, reinforcing that plans for desktop graphics cards are unwavering.
Intel appears to remain dedicated to a consistent release cycle for desktop GPUs. At the same time, they’re focusing on enhancing their laptop integrated GPUs to the point where they can stand toe-to-toe with some desktop versions. This suggests a strategic shift over time towards a stronger emphasis on mobile GPU development, but without stepping back from dedicated desktop GPUs.
As for what we can anticipate from Intel’s Celestial line, it’s set to take over from Battlemage, showcasing the "Xe3" architecture. Details are still under wraps, though. The same goes for Intel’s Druid series, which will introduce the "Xe-Next" architecture, poised to compete with products two generations ahead. Clearly, Intel’s venture into the desktop GPU domain is far from over, and there’s a lot more on the horizon from them.
For the moment, the spotlight is on Intel’s Arc Battlemage models, expected to debut imminently, giving us a glimpse into Intel’s future strategy in the desktop GPU space.
