Baldur’s Gate 3 has easily earned a spot as one of the standout games of 2023. Garnering numerous Game of the Year accolades, it’s clear that this RPG has left a significant mark on its players. However, there were a few features fans have been eagerly awaiting, and with Patch 8 on the horizon, many of these are about to be introduced.
What’s in Store with Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8?
Patch 8 is set to deliver a substantial update to this much-adored RPG, with its release slated for early next year. Fans can look forward to cross-play, a picture-perfect photo mode, and an impressive roster of 12 new subclasses. This exciting patch will be rolled out across all platforms, including the PS5.
As highlighted in the latest Baldur’s Gate 3 Community Update, cross-play is poised to be a major game-changer, enabling players to join forces across PS5, PC, Xbox, and Mac. To dive into this seamless multiplayer experience, players just need to enable cross-play and ensure they have a Larian Network account ready.
Another exciting addition is the photo mode, which is making its debut in Baldur’s Gate 3. This feature lets players snap memorable moments during their journey. The mode is brimming with customizable options like focusing the camera on different party members, tweaking lens and scene settings, adding post-processing effects, and sprucing up shots with frames and stickers. While you can capture photos during both gameplay and cinematics, adjustments to camera and lens settings won’t be available during cinematic scenes.
On top of that, Patch 8 introduces 12 shiny new subclasses for each existing class, each bringing fresh abilities, animations, visual effects, summons, and cantrips. Here’s a look at what’s new in the subclass lineup for Baldur’s Gate 3:
- Bard: College of Glamour
- Barbarian: Path of Giants
- Cleric: Death Domain
- Druid: Circle of Stars
- Paladin: Oath of the Crown
- Fighter: Arcane Archer
- Monk: Drunken Master
- Ranger: Swarmkeeper
- Rogue: Swashbuckler
- Sorcerer: Shadow Magic
- Warlock: Hexblade
- Wizard: Bladesinging
Larian Studios is gearing up to conduct stress tests for Patch 8, ensuring everything runs smoothly. PS5 players eager to get an early look can register for the testing phase coming in January. Further details will be shared in Larian’s next Community Update.
