Cross-play is soon set to elevate the multiplayer experience across all platforms where the game is available. Whether you’re on a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Windows, or Mac, you’ll be able to join friends no matter their device. And let’s talk about the new photo mode. This feature comes packed with a variety of camera, lens, and scene options along with post-processing effects, frames, and stickers. You’ll have everything you need to give your party those cool, adorable, or downright intimidating looks you want.
On top of that, every class in Baldur’s Gate 3 is getting some exciting new depth. Each will have a fresh subclass option to explore as you progress. Take the Bards, for example: if you go down the path of the College of Glamour, you get better at healing allies and charming foes. Meanwhile, Monks can opt for the Drunken Master subclass, which cleverly uses alcohol from your inventory to boost their abilities.
If you’re curious to see all the new subclasses and their initial classes, here’s the lineup for you.
Now, don’t get too antsy for Patch 8 just yet—Larian Studios isn’t setting a specific release date at the moment. But for those eager to peek at these upcoming features, there’s a stress test in the works for early January, so keep an eye out if you want to join. Details on how to get involved will be shared soon.
Even though Larian Studios has been open about not planning a Baldur’s Gate 4 or even any downloadable extras for Baldur’s Gate 3, they’re clearly aiming to conclude the development of the 2023 Game of the Year on a high note.
