Following Iron Meat’s blazing debut in September, the folks over at Retroware haven’t been taking it easy. They’ve been busy planning juicy content updates to enhance this modern retro wonder!
With the first big update for Xbox now available, players can look forward to indulging in some fresh and exciting new content that elevates the gaming experience!
Mirror, Mirror
One feature that players have been eagerly anticipating is the introduction of Mirror Mode. This option allows you to tackle every level in reverse, moving to the left instead of the right. While it might sound like a simple tweak, the change in direction presents fresh challenges when facing off against enemies, bosses, and the levels themselves. To unlock this mode, you’ll need to have completed the game at least once on any difficulty setting.
Red Rapid Fire
Another exciting addition is the automatic Supercharge upgrade, essentially a third tier for your weapons. When you activate this upgrade, your projectiles will turn red, regardless of the previous blue or green hues. For players with fully upgraded weapons, picking up an additional copy can now reward you with the Supercharge (Rapid Fire) upgrade, adding both power and a distinctive red flare to your firepower!
My 1UPs, Thank You
Perhaps one of the most rewarding changes is that any extra lives you earn during a level can be carried over to the next. So if you end a level with more lives than you started, you’ll get to keep them moving forward.
Visual Enhancements to Level Backgrounds
We’ve also revisited some level backgrounds, adding details to highlight key aspects of Iron Meat’s storyline. Enhancements include a helicopter attack on Meat monsters in the Forest level, spikes added to the Base mid-boss, surviving pilots making an appearance in the ending credits, and explosive effects from Meat meteors on the Train level, just to name a few.
Other Updates
Our team has also fine-tuned a few other aspects of the game. Here’s a quick rundown:
- Enhanced the damage of the "E", "U", and "M" guns.
- Introduced more Meat challenges on the Moon Base.
- Adjusted the MI-24 helicopter boss fight for better clarity.
- Made minor tweaks across various levels for fairness, such as making Meat worms on the Base killable upon appearance, and ensuring Meat Mouth Doors on the Train are destructible.
This update only scratches the surface of what’s to come for Iron Meat. We’re thrilled to expand the game even further in future updates. The adventure is far from over—Iron Meat is available now!
